As a retired paramedic who spent 20 years bringing sick and badly injured people to the Vancouver General Hospital emergency ward, I fully agree with letter writer Hal Genzel when he says: “It boggles the mind Vision had the stupid idea of putting a bike lane (in front of VGH).”
It was bad enough trying to thread an ambulance through the cars that were parked there before with people opening their doors and crossing in between them. To put a bike lane there is lunacy. There will be lives lost on account of this dumb move.
At least those injured will be close to help. Small comfort.
