Small plane lands on Point Grey Road (SPOOF)

June 16, 2018

A small plane ran out of fuel over Vancouver yesterday and landed on what the pilot thought was the nearest runway, a 10-foot wide strip of concrete 2km long used as a sidewalk bordering Point Grey Rd.

Fortunately, the pilot was uninjured and no pedestrians were injured as the sidewalk gets very little use.

The pilot was charged a landing fee by the City of Vancouver, which is trying desperately to recover the $6.4 million unwisely spent on the concrete strip. The City is negotiating with YVR for a long-term lease to use the concrete strip for emergency landings.
