War on Cars

Dear Mayor Moonbeam,

Did you hear about the latest report coming from The Globe and Mail?
Apparently car ownership in Canada is at an all-time record high.
People are driving in their own automobiles more than ever, and this
trend is predicted to continue. This also applies to BC, and more
specifically Vancouver.
So in spite of your war on cars, and all the social engineering tactics
you've implemented, people are not getting out of their cars, in fact
quite the opposite.

These tactics include;

* Obtrusive and obstructive bike lanes, many of which are hardly ever
used

*Removing hundreds of parking meters from the downtown core and
exorbitantly raising the rates on the remaining few

*One way streets, traffic islands, and bikes only restrictions

*Your "bike share" program which is destined to fail as it has in most
cities that have tried it. Even on the nicest of days there are hardly
any bikes out of the racks being used

All of these measures are at Vancouver property owner's taxpayer
expense. But you don't care about that; it's not your money.

Think about this the next time you're shimmying into your bike shorts.
Hope you're really proud of yourself!
